Description

Class Experience

In this 6 week course, dancers will learn choreography to music from the musical "Newsies." Dances will incorporate a variety of styles, including tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and more. Each week will focus on a song or section of a song from the musical. Some weeks will be add-ons to the previous week, or will focus on cleaning challenging dance steps. I will communicate via class chat in between classes to prepare students for the following lesson.

Students will increase dance vocabulary, improve/build technique, practice the procedure of learning a dance in the musical theatre genre, and will increase confidence in their bodies and movement.

I have 20+ years of dance and movement experience, including 5+ years of experience teaching these topics. I have trained in a variety of dance and movement styles and have a BFA in Musical Theatre.

No homework required, however class recordings may be provided to allow practice of the dances.

Required:
-Space to move and dance, clear of clutter and hazards

Recommended:
-Water bottle
-Comfortable clothing

No dress code or shoe requirement. Any dance styles included in coursework can be done in bare feet, socks, or comfortable clothing.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Learner progress feedback is available by request.

55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

As with any movement class, parents are asked to help provide a safe, clear space for dancers to move in.
