During this class, you will learn the essential elements of guitar playing, strumming and picking, the names of the guitar strings, the parts of the guitar (guitar anatomy), basic music theory, all along with singing 2 very simple, basic nursery rhymes. This is a one-time class for absolute beginners who want to learn the guitar. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀: ♪ We check if the guitar is in tune by singing a silly acronym; ♪ Learn the names of the guitar strings by playing a game...
Some skills students will be learning: • the parts of a guitar (strings, body, neck, frets, sound hole, tuning pegs, etc); • musical terms (strumming, picking, beat, steady beat, strumming pattern); • the names of the strings of a guitar; • how to keep a steady beat when playing their guitar; • 2 songs they can play straight away; • 1 nursery rhyme helpful to develop a sense or rhythm when playing their guitar. • Basic Warm-up exercises. *** Please note that you will need to have a tuned guitar for this class. Please see the Materials section to learn how to tune your guitar using an app on your phone. Younger children will require parental assistance.***
♪ My name is Bella and I have been a teacher for 20 years. I love teaching music, guitar and ukulele to young children because it gives them a way to FIND who they are, to EXPRESS their feelings, emotions and thoughts and to LET IT GO! ♪ I have found that young children love playing musical instruments, making up their own songs, creating rhythmic patterns and learning a new musical instrument through story-type lessons. I am building each new lesson on their interests and passion, aiming not only to teach them a skill, but to develop a life-long LOVE for music, to SING, CREATE and PLAY the songs from their hearts! ♪ My classes are fun, interactive, small groups of children where each child finds their voice and shines bright! 1 file available upon enrollment→ Please make sure your guitar is tuned before class as we will not be discussing tuning in this class. Here is a video explaining how to tune your guitar using a guitar tuner app on your phone. A grown up can help you with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfjWaIgRddI&list=PL-RYb_OMw7Gf5Y6HfdXrn5s4Y5oXb2zkr&index=4 → Learners can use a pick, but it is not compulsory; I actually recommend the use of fingers for strumming/picking. → In order for me to give feedback and see clearly the learner while playing their instrument, please make sure you position the learners, so I can see their BOTH hands when playing, head to the waist, in a well-lit room (the light coming from their front, not from the back). The young learner can sit on the floor, with their legs crossed. If they are joining from an iPad/laptop, they can also be on the floor or a little stool, it can point straight or downwards. → Please note that the learner can't sit on an armchair as this will restrict the way their instrument needs to be positioned and also restricts the movement of the learner's arms. A chair with no arms, or a stool are recommended. Both learner's feet should be on the floor, not hanging. → Please feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or concerns. → The teacher will provide the songs and other files (strumming and chords sheets);
