In this camp, learners will be exposed to the engineering and design process (plan, create, test, improve) as they complete STEM challenges. Content areas, inclusive of: reading, writing, math and social studies, will be integrated throughout the week. Students will be presented with daily challenges and will be guided through the engineering and design process (EDP) as they work to solve the challenge. Learners will share their builds live on camera. The camp classes are structured as teacher facilitated with learners actively engaged in a hands-on manner to work through each challenge. I will be the coach in each class guiding learners as they plan, create, test their ideas and make changes to improve on their thinking. My teaching style is flexible, relaxed and engaging. I see myself as part of the learning environment providing a safe space for budding engineers to give it a go and accept a fail (First Attempt at Learning). Learners will engage with each other and the teacher in a fluid manner throughout the week. They will share success, failure, and suggestions with each other.

Examples of challenges for this camp: (These are only examples, actual challenges will be listed in the classroom and will change from week to week. Not all challenges are listed.)
Boats: Create boats from aluminum foil.
Cup Stacking Challenges: Create tall towers with cups.
STEM Camp Band: Create instruments and put on a show.
Cardboard Automata: Create your own art with moving parts.
Junk Bots: Use household items to create a robot model.
Rube Goldberg Machine: Solve an everyday problem with a chain reaction simple machine.
Amusement Park Ride: Create a model of a new ride for an amusement park.
Ramp Designing: Using pasteboard or cereal boxes to design a ramp to race a toy car.
Water Slides: Create a model and test it out in class.

Free Build Time as well throughout!

Challenges change from week to week to allow learners to participate more than once when interested. It's a new experience each time!
*Note: Class must meet the minimum of 6 learners to move forward.*
