Did your family get a new puppy? Would you like some tips for how to best prepare your puppy to be a good member of your family? Recently, I was featured in Parents Magazine, March 2022 edition, as an Online Educator/Dog Trainer for children. In the article I help parents recognize different ways to incorporate their children in the daily pet care and training aspect of owning a dog. I am a Professional Dog Trainer that works with families with new puppies on a daily basis. I would love to offer my tips and tricks to raising a well-rounded and well-behaved dog for your family. In this Multi-Day Class, students will bring their new puppies to class (puppies must be less than 6 months old) and teach their dog new skills each week. This is a course designed for learners with new puppies that want to fully train their dogs. When you make training your new puppy a priority, then your puppy will grow up to be a well-behaved adult dog. In this course learners will participate in my top selling New Puppy Class, then each week they will learn how to teach their dogs 5 new tricks or obedience skills. The learner will teach their puppy a total of 23 new skills. Week 1: New Puppy Dog Training Class Learners will bring their new puppies to class and show them off to their classmates. Then we will discuss various topics that are important for new dog owners. Topics discussed in this class are: Best ways to communicate with your puppy Potty Training Appropriate ways to play with the puppy Importance of socialization Tips for puppy biting and chewing Kennel Training Tips Obedience Skills taught in this class are: Sit Down Shake Week 2: Obedience Part 1 Class Review best ways to communicate with your dog Review positive reinforcement EZ/Soft mouth Watch Me Come Stay/Stay with Distance In/Out of Crate Week 3: Tricks Part 1 Class Review importance of communicating with your dog Touch Over Spin Sit Pretty Around Week 4: Obedience Part 2 Class: Review Obedience Skills learned in Part 1 Class Leave It Wait Back Up Stay with Distance/ Circle Stay Stay with Distraction Week 5: Tricks Part 2 Class: Review tricks learned in Part 1 class Place/Mat (Please bring a dog bed or mat to class) Pray Bow Leg Weave Dance Pray These classes will be taught through lecture as well as hands on learning. If time allows, at the end of each class, students will have the opportunity to ask questions about their puppy or dog training in general.
Learning Goals
Students will learn proper ways to take care of their new puppy as well as teach their new puppy a new tricks and obedience skills.
Other Details
Supply List
Please bring your dog, dog treats or dog food, a leash (not required, but you can use it to help keep your puppy in the room for the training), a dog toy for class #4 and a dog bed for class #5.
