I am an experienced educator and speech language pathologist who has taught at nearly every level of instruction from pre-k to adults. My pronouns are She/Her. I believe that it is in my self-interest to be an ally to LGBTQ2IA+ individuals. I have family members that belong to this community also and the human community! I have worked to develop an understanding of LGBTQIA issues and have participated in various organizations for this cause. I have evaluated, counseled and treated individuals who are transgender and transitioning and needing assistance in vocal training in regards to gender expression as a licensed and ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist. This skill-set is not common in my field and I have ASHA certificates in this area in order to be experienced in evaluating and treating this particular clientele. I earned a PhD with courses in psychology, sociology, metaphysics, and science including LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS CEU coursework. I have volunteered in programs geared to the LGBTQ community during my university studies with various organizations advocating for the LGBTQ community. I have also produced teaching lessons on gender identity for an online educational marketplace. This flex class was designed to be respectful of all individuals and their belief systems and was designed to be a brief introduction to gender identities, roles, description of pronouns and inclusivity for marginalized individuals. Other information: I am cisgender and an ally to LGBTQ2+ causes.

A 46 page colorful PDF will be provided free of charge to all learners. This PDF is a shortened version of the one that the teacher presents in her class. I will be referring to the longer version of the PDF during the class and reading it versus lecture format. The PDF may be used to answer the questions in the nearpod assignments. These assignments are self grading but have the ability to see how the learner performed.
This flex class was designed to be respectful of all individuals and their belief systems and was designed to be a brief introduction to gender identities, roles, description of pronouns and inclusivity. It is presented by an instructor who has experience in working with individuals of various gender identities and cultures and does not lean towards any one-sided biased view. This class is presented professionally and respectfully.
We will refer to various videos that I have chosen to be presented in a professional and non-judgemental way. For example, “The Range of Gender Identities” by Amaze (see source below), “10 Gender Identities Beyond Male & Female” to start at 2-minute mark which explains “Two Spirit” and cultures to coincide with the PDF and my brief lecture on this topic. Amaze.org AMAZE resources which are designed to help parents become comfortable and confident talking to their children openly and honestly. This organization only uses research-based sources. The Human Rights Campaign which envisions a world where every member of the LGBTQ+ family has the freedom to live their truth without fear, and with equality under the law. They empower over 3 million members and supporters to mobilize against attacks on the most marginalized people in our community. PFLAG is the largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies. Videos presented have been reviewed for age-appropriate content and are in the public domain.
