What's included
Class Experience
Each week, we will read a few chapters of "Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow," and respond to discussion questions, complete a literary project or activity, and look at the author's use of vocabulary to build a fantasy world. Each lesson will include a video lesson about literary concepts such as narrative structure, character analysis, plot development, and motivation, demonstrated with select readings from the book. Students will be responsible for reading the assignment (around 80 - 100 pages each in my edition) and participating in 3 or more discussion questions posted in the Outschool classroom. I will respond to each post with encouragement, feedback, and prompts for further thinking. Students will be encouraged to respond to each other’s posts as well as give feedback on each other’s assignments. All posts will be in the Outschool classroom, so that we can learn from each other's observations and encourage each other's thinking. See the list below for more details. Scheduled activities by week: Week 1: Book introduction (No pre-reading required for this class!) Teacher expertise and credentials
Teaching the love of reading is a passion of mine! I don't believe in reading logs or limits, but reading for learning, engagement, and discussion. When we share the books we are reading it makes us better readers! Having some one to "geek out" with over character development, plot twists, and cliff hanger endings makes us feel like we belong and gives us the confidence to keep reading.
I have 15 years of classroom experience, with most of that time spent teaching students in fifth grade. I have a Master’s degree in educational leadership and many endorsements.
