In this class, students will be taught the fundamentals of writing, including sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar. They'll also learn how to organize their thoughts into clear paragraphs and develop their own creative writing skills through storytelling and descriptive writing exercises. Your teaching style is warm, supportive, and hands-on. You focus on creating a safe, inclusive environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves. You use interactive activities, real-world examples, and positive reinforcement to keep students engaged. You emphasize building confidence in their skills through consistent feedback and fostering a growth mindset.

Who Are You?
Introduce students to character creation through simple adjectives. Students will describe their character using words like “big, small, funny, kind,” and share their creations.

Superpower Day!
Students will imagine their character with a superpower, exploring action verbs like run, jump, and fly. They’ll either draw or write about their character using their power.

Character Interview
Students will role-play as their characters, answering questions from an interviewer to explore their characters’ personalities and preferences.

Lesson 4:
Magical Lands & Fun Places
Explore different settings by teaching students how to describe a place using sensory details. Students will draw or write about a magical or fun place.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My expertise has been working in neurodiverse Kindergarten and middle school classrooms, classes specifically tailored to kids with varying degrees of neurodiversity. I have two children, both neurodiverse, and have worked at camps and as a Karate Instructor - working with children of various needs. It has been a journey and I love working with neurodiverse kids!
