Class Experience

Welcome to Neurodivergent Social and Emotional Learning! This course is a personalized, ongoing class designed to foster a supportive and empowering environment for neurodivergent learners. Lessons use a strength-based approach to equip learners with tools to help them navigate challenges and grow in autonomy, confidence, and self-esteem. This course covers a wide range of age-appropriate social-emotional skills, including self-advocacy, self-management, social awareness, self-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. As in all of my private classes, learning goals are tailored to the individual needs of the learner. All brains are welcome. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or to request a different time for this course. 

-Self-Advocacy: Skills to help learners effectively express their needs and preferences in various settings.

-Self-Management: Skills related to managing emotions, thoughts, and behaviors and setting and working towards goals. 

-Social Awareness: Skills related to perspective-taking, understanding and navigating challenging social and behavioral expectations and sensory environments, and social support. 

-Self-Awareness: Skills related to recognizing emotions and thoughts, knowing strengths and weaknesses, and developing a growth mindset.

-Relationship Skills: Skills related to establishing and maintaining relationships with others, effective communication, and negotiating conflict. 

-Responsible Decision-Making: Skills related to making positive choices, problem-solving, and considering consequences.

Note: Outschool does not support any classes that offer a medical service. This course is educational and should not replace or substitute for any form of therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment. Social-emotional learning (SEL) is not therapeutic, and this course does not focus on learners sharing personal feelings or experiences. This private course is tailored to the learner's developmental level, needs, and learning style. Depending on the age of the learner puppets, games, slides, narratives, and/or discussion may be used to teach the material.

Learners will gain age-appropriate social-emotional skills in the areas of self-advocacy, self-management, social awareness, self-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Parental guidance is not required for this course. Parents should be aware that this course provides educational content and skill development and is not therapeutic in nature. If you are seeking therapeutic support or assistance with mental health concerns, it is important to consult with a licensed therapist, counselor, or mental health professional who can provide the appropriate guidance and support. This course is not a substitute for professional therapeutic services.
