Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Beginner - Advanced Level
🚀 Get ready to skyrocket your Spanish-speaking skills! 🚀

In this ongoing private conversation class, students will participate in engaging weekly discussions in Spanish that are personalized to their interests, needs and proficiency levels. Whether your child needs to speak with their abuelita, their neighbors or a new friend at school, this class will provide your child with the skills and confidence to be able to speak Spanish in a variety of fun settings that mimic real-life.

My teaching style:
❤ My teaching style is is highly interactive and engaging.

🧡 Prior to the first class, students/families will complete a short questionnaire to let me know your child's interests, goals, strengths and challenges to help me make this class as customized as possible for your learner.

💛 Based on this, I will create an individualized learning plan and class activities that captivate your child's attention and skyrocket his/her Spanish proficiency.

💚 Typical class activities include games, songs, movement, stories, and other activities that make Spanish language and culture come to life.

Class structure:
❤ Warm-up activity to activate their background knowledge, review key phrases and introduce new vocabulary items key to upcoming discussion.

🧡 Gamified conversation activity, discussing meaningful topics completely in Spanish with English used minimally for clarification.

💛 Language will be made comprehensible using gestures, visuals and other strategies to negotiate meaning.

💚 Game to review material discussed in today's class, time for questions and brief discussion of upcoming topics that students may hope to discuss.

💙 Students will receive optional extension activities in the form of games and real-life challenges to use Spanish according to each class' topics and individual student goals.

💜 Topics will be age appropriate and learner-directed. Whether your child loves sports, music, art, video games or even just talking about every day life, each conversation will be focused on their interests. Let me know how I can best serve your child's needs!

NOTE: Because this class is private tutoring, it is highly learner-directed. Weekly activities will vary according to your child's particular strengths/challenges, interests and goals. Typically, no special materials will be necessary. It is helpful to have crayons, glue and other basic craft supplies handy, however, I will never introduce these in a lesson without discussing with your family first to make sure they are available and ready.

🌟 Sample topics (Mid-Novice Level): 🌟
Week 1: Mexico City Virtual Field Trip (Vocabulary: Places, Grammar: Estar)
Week 2: Food Tour of Mexico City (Vocabulary: Food, Grammar: Likes/Dislikes)
Week 3: Navigating the CDMX Metro (Vocabulary: Transportation, Grammar: Cardinal Directions)
Week 4: Frida Kahlo Art Museum (Vocabulary: Personal Descriptions, Grammar: -Ar Verbs)
Learning Goals
Students will improve their speaking/listening skills in Spanish while practicing new vocabulary items within engaging contexts that mimic real-life communicative needs
