Class Experience
In this film study class, we will talk about TV shows and movies that the learner wants to talk about. There is a ton of content on Netflix, and I have watched most of it. Films and TV shows impact how we communicate, act, react, and so much more. As we discuss, write, and listen we will learn why films and TV shows are a powerful tool in our society. We will also talk about how the TV show or movie was made talking about camera angles, script writing, acting, props, make-up, and more. Behind the scenes of TV shows or movies, there is research happening to make sure the visual images represent the right vibe or time period. Let's talk about it all! This class will look like this: 1. The teacher will reach out to the learners, asking them what they want to get out of this week's class. 2. Before the class, the learner will message the teacher with information about what show or movie they want to talk about. And at least one thing they want to cover during the discussion. If it's a TV show the teacher may ask for their favorite episode or season to focus the discussion. 3. The teacher will come prepared with a discussion about the show or movie. The teacher may use video, images, presentations, or graphics to help lead the discussion. 4. The student will participate in the discussion and is required to take notes. Towards the end of class the learner will write a paragraph(s) either about something new they learned during the discussion, or a review of the show or movie.
Learning Goals
The students will learn how to participate in a discussion, answer questions with factual information, and then articulate all of their thoughts into a paragraph. This is a great class if your learner needs writing practice or examples.

I have been teaching film studies classes for the last three years and love watching and analyzing films myself. I have a Master's degree in Strategic Communication. As my capstone project, I analyzed Outer Banks' season 3 marketing strategy and how it gets fans to watch the show. I love TV and movies and looking into the more profound analysis of the story and structure.
