This class will give your child an opportunity to learn facts and traditions from Scotland with others in an interactive way. The session will begin with an introduction of Scotland, pin pointing where it is on a map and what other countries are around it. We will then look at some of the well known mountains and lakes that make Scotland world famous, and play a game to help us remember. Our studies will then focus on Loch Ness, and Loch Ness monster, better known as "Nessie". The children will have an opportunity to draw Nessie following my lead. While they color, I will tell a fabulously funny story about Nessie. Your child will have lots of opportunity to share their knowledge with others, as slides and video clips inspire them. To conclude the session each child will have an opportunity to show their finished artwork (if they wish), and we will discuss if we think Nessie is real! Learners need no prior knowledge.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about geographical features of Scotland and the U.K. They will learn new vocabulary such as "Loch" and "Munro" and "myth".
On a map students will identify Scotland and the seas and land that surround it.
They will then learn about the Scottish traditional myth of the Lochness Monster.
Students will learn to draw a simple sea-like monster.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there!
I am a qualified British teacher living in the U.K. I have taught the 3-11 year old children for over for over 15 years. At present I teach part-time at a local school Here I teach 4-8 year olds Math Mastery and phonics.
My other passion is to teach children about the natural world through drawing and craft.
I am a qualified outdoor educator (Forest School Level 3), and cannot wait to bring the outside into your home. By teaching about the natural world I hope to encourage your child to go out, explore and become passionate about the natural world. Through drawing, natural crafts and stories I would hope to build a connection between your child and the natural world, that will light a spark of love for the outdoors, and will last them a lifetime.
I also love to pass on knowledge about my culture, I am originally from Wales, have lived in Scotland and now live in England... so there will be lots to learn in my lessons about these three countries of the United Kingdom.
I would wish your child to be so inspired by my lessons that they would want to find out more independently about art, nature and different cultures.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
