This course is a 12 day adventure around the world. Learners will visit one location in each lesson and explore important historical and cultural landmarks at each location. Learners will have the opportunity to explore locations using Nearpod Virtual Reality. Learners should have a Nearpod account and be familiar with VR technology. This course follows the EXPLORER MINDSET LEARNING FRAMEWORK . Seattle, Washington
Arrive in Seattle and meet Mrs. Sturdevant, as well as your fellow travelers, and review a few travel safety rules before boarding the plane for Japan. On the way, you’ll cross the international date line, losing a day in transit.

Lesson 2:
Guam
Our second location is Guam, the US’s small island territory in Micronesia, in the Western Pacific. Guam is well known for tropical beaches, Chamorro villages and ancient latte-stone pillars.

Lesson 3:
Japan
Japan, is an island country lying off the east coast of Asia and the third location. Japan is a string of islands that stretches for approximately 2400 kilometers through the North Pacific Ocean.

Lesson 4:
China
Our next location is a big one. China is a country in East Asia with a rich history and culture. It is the largest of all Asian countries, almost as large as the whole of Europe.

I hold a BA Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Middle Grades (6-9) Social Studies. I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Social Studies using curriculum aligned with federal, state, and local standards. I am a Facing History and Ourselves educator with many hours of professional development focused on multicultural learning and global awareness. I have friends and family in most of the locations we plan to "visit" in addition to having taught students from many unique backgrounds.
