Learners will identify and prioritize their personal preferences for college selection criteria, including factors such as school size, location, available majors, athletic programs, and other relevant considerations.

Types of College Admissions & Testing Options
Learners will examine various college admissions types, including early decision, and their associated application deadlines. They will understand the implications and commitments of early decision, emphasizing the importance of thoroughly reviewing the contractual agreement. Additionally, learners will explore different testing options available for college admissions.

Lesson 3:
Tackling the College Essay
Learners will discover the importance of the college essay as a unique opportunity to showcase their individuality and potential to admissions officers. They will develop strategies for selecting a compelling essay topic that authentically reflects their personal experiences, values, and aspirations.

Applying for Colleges
Learners will explore the Common Application platform, a centralized tool enabling both first-time and transfer applicants to streamline their college applications for multiple institutions. They will also learn about alternative application methods, such as applying directly through individual college websites, and the benefits and considerations of each approach.

Parental Guidance
In these classes, learners will be utilizing the College Board website to help with the college search process. College Board is a mission-driven not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity. College Board aims to prepare students for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success—including the SAT, the Advanced Placement Program, and BigFuture.
During week 4, learners will be introduced to the Common App website. Common App is a single online college application form used by over 900 colleges and universities. This allows students to apply to multiple schools at once, rather than completing individual applications for each school.
Throughout the classes, learners will be accessing videos of the lesson, presented by myself. These presentations will also be accessible to learners through Google Slides.
