Class Experience

In our ongoing class together, we will be exploring wildlife in winter. We will observe nature during this season of the year, and identify how various wildlife interact with the cold weather.

The learners will be engaged as we:
❈ examine how wildlife survive in winter
❈ note how active or inactive they are
❈ discuss how the weather affects them

They will be able to actively participate during the class by sharing their prior knowledge on the subject, though, no prior knowledge is necessary for this ongoing class.

Learners will understand more fully that not all animals hibernate, and some have interesting ways they live through winter.

They will also have the opportunity to participate in activities in class; we will engage in discussions as well. A slideshow presentation will be presented to highlight concepts regarding life during the winter season. The learners will be guided through this wintry exploration. Welcome!

It continues to be a privilege to teach on Outschool, and a joy to be able to reach learners around the world. I’m Shelmika or Mrs. Seashell, and I am just as excited to be teaching today on Outschool as I was a year ago.

I was a Homeschool parent of three, but all three of my children have graduated as of May 2023, and now attend different universities across the US. As I enjoyed the daily experience of teaching my children, I also had the opportunity to volunteer as a pre-school teacher. Additionally, at a local school district, I worked as a Social Service Advocate, supporting learners outside the classroom. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and have completed some graduate education coursework as well.

As a teacher, I especially enjoy exploring the world around us through nature studies. Therefore, my Outschool library of classes will mainly include Science/Nature classes. During each class, I enjoy participation from all learners, so discussion is encouraged, and I endeavor to create a safe and relaxed environment with engaging material that will boost a learner’s interest, and thereby their love of learning.

I’m excited to guide your learner on their knowledge quest, and I hope to see them soon on Zoom!

Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thank you.
