What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In our one-time class together we’ll explore a natural biome: the grassland. We’ll learn what happens in this biome in the springtime. We’ll discover the differences between a grassland and a forest. Our time together will include a discussion of grasses, flowers, and animals who call the grassland their home during the springtime. We will also see that Spring is a time of new growth and birth. In addition, we will enjoy engaging activities to help increase our understanding of grasslands. Learners will grasp a greater understanding of grasslands by discovering plants and animals that live there and contrasting it to forests. No prior knowledge is needed to join this class. The grassland is a budding biome and one of nature's wonders!
Learning Goals
After completing this class learners will be able to:
• Identify what a grassland is
• Describe how a grassland is different from a forest
• Recognize there are different types of grasses
• Identify animals that live in grasslands

Welcome!
It continues to be a privilege to teach on Outschool, and a joy to be able to reach learners around the world. I’m Shelmika or Mrs. Seashell, and I am just as excited to be teaching today on Outschool as I was a year ago.
I was a Homeschool parent of three, but all three of my children have graduated as of May 2023, and now attend different universities across the US. As I enjoyed the daily experience of teaching my children, I also had the opportunity to volunteer as a pre-school teacher. Additionally, at a local school district, I worked as a Social Service Advocate, supporting learners outside the classroom. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and have completed some graduate education coursework as well.
As a teacher, I especially enjoy exploring the world around us through nature studies. Therefore, my Outschool library of classes will mainly include Science/Nature classes. During each class, I enjoy participation from all learners, so discussion is encouraged, and I endeavor to create a safe and relaxed environment with engaging material that will boost a learner’s interest, and thereby their love of learning.
I’m excited to guide your learner on their knowledge quest, and I hope to see them soon on Zoom!
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thank you.
