In our one-time class together we will classify vertebrates in the animal kingdom. All animals have their uniqueness and we’ll explore that. Learners will see what makes a reptile a reptile, along with what makes amphibians, mammals, birds, and fish special too. We’ll learn why various animals are grouped, by comparing their similarities, and we’ll also discuss their differences. And while discussing the animals, the learners can get creative and draw them too! There will be a slideshow presented in the class to highlight each type of animal as we compare and contrast them. Learners will have fun as they gain a better understanding of differences between similar animals such as reptiles and amphibians. All learners are welcome to join the class and explore the animal kingdom with us, no matter if they have prior knowledge or not. This one-time class will help learners classify vertebrates-one of nature’s wonders.
Learning Goals
After completing this class learners will be able to:
• Classify the various vertebrates in the animal kingdom
• Describe the similarities and differences in the animal kingdom

Welcome!
It continues to be a privilege to teach on Outschool, and a joy to be able to reach learners around the world. I’m Shelmika or Mrs. Seashell, and I am just as excited to be teaching today on Outschool as I was a year ago.
I was a Homeschool parent of three, but all three of my children have graduated as of May 2023, and now attend different universities across the US. As I enjoyed the daily experience of teaching my children, I also had the opportunity to volunteer as a pre-school teacher. Additionally, at a local school district, I worked as a Social Service Advocate, supporting learners outside the classroom. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and have completed some graduate education coursework as well.
As a teacher, I especially enjoy exploring the world around us through nature studies. Therefore, my Outschool library of classes will mainly include Science/Nature classes. During each class, I enjoy participation from all learners, so discussion is encouraged, and I endeavor to create a safe and relaxed environment with engaging material that will boost a learner’s interest, and thereby their love of learning.
I’m excited to guide your learner on their knowledge quest, and I hope to see them soon on Zoom!
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thank you.
