In our multi-day class together, we will be surveying all the different species of bears. We’ll look at the largest species, the polar bear, all the way down to the smallest, the sun bear. Learners won’t need any prior knowledge to attend. During each class, we will uncover facts about each of the species like what each of their diets consist of and where their habitats are located. Bears are interesting mammals, and we'll discuss how we know bears are mammals. In the winter some bear species are known to hibernate, but this isn’t true. Bears aren’t true hibernators; we will see why. Day 1: Discuss four of the species and begin our craft Day 2: Discuss the last four species, being a true hibernator, and complete our craft During our two days together, the learners will have a bear craft to complete. A slideshow will be presented to highlight facts about bears each class, and lots of time for sharing and discussion. This class is an awesome way to introduce or reinforce the eight species of bears-some of nature’s wonders.

Welcome!
It continues to be a privilege to teach on Outschool, and a joy to be able to reach learners around the world. I’m Shelmika or Mrs. Seashell, and I am just as excited to be teaching today on Outschool as I was a year ago.
I was a Homeschool parent of three, but all three of my children have graduated as of May 2023, and now attend different universities across the US. As I enjoyed the daily experience of teaching my children, I also had the opportunity to volunteer as a pre-school teacher. Additionally, at a local school district, I worked as a Social Service Advocate, supporting learners outside the classroom. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and have completed some graduate education coursework as well.
As a teacher, I especially enjoy exploring the world around us through nature studies. Therefore, my Outschool library of classes will mainly include Science/Nature classes. During each class, I enjoy participation from all learners, so discussion is encouraged, and I endeavor to create a safe and relaxed environment with engaging material that will boost a learner’s interest, and thereby their love of learning.
I’m excited to guide your learner on their knowledge quest, and I hope to see them soon on Zoom!
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thank you.
