Beginner Level
In this class, students will learn basic nature journaling skills throughout four weeks, and participate in a series of activities to practice their skills, while also promoting interaction in the classroom. Each week, students will interact on our outschool classroom. The week will start with an instructional video that will be posted on Monday of that week. Students will then participate in discussion board posts, responding to questions posed by the teacher, and have a weekly journal entry to complete.

Observing
Week 1: Observing
Video - An instructional video on the meaning of observation and ways to observe nature will be provided for students to watch. Students will be able to post questions about the topic in the class discussion.
Activity - A template of the weeks journal page will be provided. Lesson 2:
Recording
Week 2: Recording
Video - An instructional video on the importance of recording in nature journaling will be provided for students to watch. Students will be able to post questions about the topic in the class discussion.

Researching
Week 3: Researching
Video - An instructional video on why researching is an important part of nature journaling will be provided for students to watch. Students will be able to post questions about the topic in the class discussion.

Detailing
Week 4: Detailing
Video - An instructional video on ways to incorporate detailing into nature journaling will be provided for students to watch. Students will be able to post questions about the topic in the class discussion.

Parental Guidance
Students will need to spend time outdoors in nature to complete this course. They may need parental supervision for that.
Supply List
Journal templates will be provided weekly and need to be printed Art supplies or at least a pencil Outdoor space to observe in The ability to take a picture of their journal entry to share with the class
