1 hour per week. I do not like the word - Homework! Children can learn through everyday experiences. I would like to create a similar experience, by incorporating activities that require use of everyday items from home. For example, when we are learning about the letter "b" in the virtual classroom, home activities will include playing with a ball outdoors or making a box-fort in the living room. Pictures of these adventures are welcomed as a "show and tell" opportunity in the virtual classroom. During the first few months of home activities, they will be completed individually. As the class continues, I will incorporate group activities - such as photo collages or art projects that we can complete virtually.Class Experience

Nature-Ific Circle Time is a class for young children ages 3-5. If your child attended a physical preschool classroom, circle time would be comprised of movement songs, and literacy activities. Since this circle time will take place virtually, the songs and literacy activities will be enhanced through TPR, engaging on-screen rewards and interactive literacy activities. Each class will open with introductions and exciting welcome songs as I and the children will say our names and ages. Every Friday your learner will experience circle time, but in the great outdoors. I enjoy being outside and will introduce general nature-specific topics, such as camping, growing trees, clouds and insects, to your learner. We will learn more about these topics through songs, movement activities and hands-on play. With each topic, your learner will be introduced to the "letter, number, color, shape and topic" of the day. When learning each letter, they will be introduced to the letter's sound, shape and a word that begins with the letter. I will follow the same pattern for introducing, numbers, colors, shapes and the topic. Throughout the class we will also explore pre-writing skills, as we use various outdoor materials to write capital and lowercase letters. As the months progress students will learn various topics about nature, through literacy activities, stories, and songs. They will learn to recognize the assorted colors and potentially spell the color words. Be prepared to hear your child sing, dance, and repeat all the awesome things they will learn in class each week. Our weekly lessons will consist of: January 20: All About Me January 27: The Great Outdoors February 3: The Bark of a Tree February 10: How Candy Grows - Virtual Field Trip February 17: From Seed to Plant February 24: Snow Days in the Great Outdoors - Virtual Field Trip March 3: Clouds in the Sky - Show and Tell Art Project March 10: Outdoor Insects March 17: Outdoor Animals March 24: Living/Camping Outside - Show and Tell and Virtual Field Trip March 31: Hands-on Art Day **Please note that new topics will be introduced in the upcoming weeks.
