This nature camp is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and study nature while creating beautiful works of art. These simple crafts require only basic supplies and are designed to work with a variety of plants and natural items, so that learners all around the world can participate! Each day I will review and explain our art project while checking each learner's supplies. As we create, learners are encouraged to chat and discuss the topic and compare their items. When we have finished the craft, learners can share their projects onscreen and are prompted to add some helpful notes to any existing nature journals in order to help identify plants later. Day 1 - Nature prints: use paint and miscellaneous items like leaves, flowers and even mushrooms to stamp designs onto paper, bark or rocks (please don't pull bark off healthy trees and see supply list for ideas). Day 2 - Natural paintbrushes: use pine needles, ferns, flowers, leaves, twigs and other found objects to make DIY paintbrushes that we can use to paint designs. Experiment with different items and see which ones you prefer! Day 3: Nature Weaving: using a cardboard loom, this weaving project is easy for kids to do independently. Alternatively, learners can use a Y-shaped stick as a frame for their loom, then use string and foraged items to weave into a beautiful design. Day 4 - Pressed Flower Suncatchers: brighten up your windows with these beautiful suncatchers made with contact paper (or wax paper and iron) and your choice of flowers and plants. Let's get outside and enjoy the sunshine! I welcome learners of all abilities; please reach out if you have any special requests. My classes are always upbeat and encouraging; I focus on self-expression and prefer learners to develop their own style while learning art techniques and methods. I will demonstrate my project step-by-step, but independent learners are welcome to experiment with other ideas and ask questions, discuss and share as we work. No matter what time of year it is in your part of the world, we can have fun learning from one another and sharing our beautiful creations!
