This one-time science class is an introduction to the most ferocious predators on planet Earth. In this class, we will talk about what makes a predator "apex". We will look at which of the four trophic levels of the food chain an apex predator fits into. Students will learn that a trophic cascade can occur if the apex predator is removed from an ecosystem and we will explore a real-life example. Students will also find out if humans belong on the food chain and which apex predator might see...
Students will learn what makes a predator apex and that they keep their ecosystems healthy and balanced. Students will learn about trophic levels and that trophic cascades can be caused by the removal or return of an apex predator.
