A splash of red on a wintery branch! Cardinals are hardy song birds that overwinter in Canada and the Northern United States. Students in this class learn about where these birds live, the appearance of male and female cardinals, their songs and calls, and how they survive cold winters through a short interactive presentation. Then, I guide students through 3 steps to draw a detailed cardinal. We begin the drawing by blocking out the basic shapes of our composition. Then, we add in details with pencil and add plumage color with colored pencils. This class is educational and enjoyable for students who like to learn more about North American birds and practice drawing!
