STEAM stands for Science/Technology/Engineering/Arts/Math. This craft club challenges students to take simple craft supplies along with items that often end up in the trash or recycling bin and turn them into something else. Each week there will be a craft project to match an environmental science topic. We will briefly talk about the science that goes with what we are making and then we will make our craft together while we chat. Sometimes we will simply make a craft but sometimes we will take our project a step further and use it to innovate and collaborate as a team over zoom! Teacher will always provide a model of what she made and will have simple instructions at the ready but will also pose the question: how can we turn these materials into a_______________? We will learn to repurpose common household items instead of throwing them away- like toilet paper rolls, cotton balls, or water bottles! This is an ongoing class so you can join or drop at any time. Written instructions for supplies needed for the week will always be provided in the classroom in advance. Week of May 22- coffee filter flowers (plant's life cycle over four seasons) Week of May 29- egg carton chicks (what animals are doing in Spring) Week of June 5- Nature Mobiles (what's blooming in your climate) Week of June 12- Spoon Bees (all about pollinators)

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a former classroom teacher with plenty of experience leading groups of students, it is my pleasure to lead your little learner in some fun crafts while creating an opportunity for socialization and a way to use up some of your excess household supplies! Crafts are a regular activity in our household and all of these crafts are kid-tested-and-approved by this mother's young daughter.
