Beginner Level
We will begin the class by introducing the concept of collage and showing some fun examples. We will talk about the textures, colors, and shapes of our objects. We will talk about the concept of abstract versus realistic art and how collage can be used to achieve both. Each student will then be free to cut, glue, and assemble their shapes as they see fit. Each student will then share their work with the class, if they choose to.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the concept of mixed media art.
Students will learn the concept of how to identify and explain texture.
Students will learn the difference between abstract and realistic art.
Students will create their very own mixed media collage.

Parental Guidance
Students will be using scissors and glue in this class. Please provide appropriate scissors and supervision if needed.

Large piece of construction paper for base of collage Colorful construction paper for cutouts At least ten found natural items (leaves, flowers, grass, etc.) Magazine pages with natural colors/pictures Glue stick Scissors Tape
