Description

Class Experience

I am a Lipan Apache woman who is passionate about teaching children and adults who we are as Native people. I have almost a decade of experience teaching about Native peoples, writing curriculum, consulting with curriculum companies, etc.
1 hour 5 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
All content will be kept age appropriate. However, some of it may be difficult for sensitive learners. If you have any concerns, please contact me so we can talk about them. This class will discuss things like genocide, land theft, war and violence, disease, child removal and abuses at Indian Boarding Schools, racism and discrimination, harmful stereotypes, and Native political movements in the 20th and 21st centuries. There will not be significant details about some of these things, but they will be discussed in their historic or contemporary contexts. All pop culture will be age appropriate.
Nothing is required for use in class. These are the main sources I have used to build these lessons.

An Indigenous Peoples History of the United States
Atlas of Indian Nations
A Kid's Guide to Native American History
Rethinking Columbus
Native Knowledge 360
IllumiNative
American Indian Contributions to the World
