Class Experience

Students will be able to gain an understanding of Native American culture as well as learn the history of European colonization from East Texas to West Florida.
I have a minor in Social Studies that gave me extensive knowledge of Native American groups across the southern region of North America. With Native American ancestry of my own, this brought me to want to learn more about the culture. For years, I've done extensive research on the subject as well as spent my time reading several scholarly books that talk specifically about Native American in Texas, Florida, New Mexico and Louisiana.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In this course, we discuss concepts such as genocide and the effects of colonization. However, the content is not graphic, and the discussions are meant simply to describe an accurate account of history.
I will mainly use two books throughout the course. Students are not required to purchase these books, as slides will be prepared based off of the information.
