National Latin Exam Study Session
Prepare to take this year's National Latin Exam with an experienced Latin teacher. Use a different past exam each week to practice reading, history, mythology, grammar, etc. In this class, we use mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow!

This 6-Week Enrichment Class is designed to help students prepare to take the National Latin Exam, usually administered in March. It is assumed that any student taking the National Latin Exam is already taking a formal course of Latin language study; therefore this is a class geared towards test prep and each week is a freestanding lesson based on one previous exam (schedule below). Each week in this NLE Study Session, we will use a previous year's National Latin Exam to prepare for this year's upcoming exam. Students can prepare in advance by taking the exam before class, or take it live during our class. We will go through each question and answer, explaining the rationale behind the answer, thus helping students learn HOW to arrive at the correct answer on their own. Please enroll your learner in the level of the exam they will be taking. If your learner wishes to have extra practice at a lower level of study, feel free to enroll in multiple sections. I do not, however, recommend enrolling in a level beyond that of the exam your student will be taking this year. Below are the schedules of exams, and which day of the week to enroll in depending on the level of Latin. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tuesdays: Intro to Latin Wednesdays: Intermediate Reading (formerly Latin 3) Thursdays: Beginning Latin (formerly Latin 1) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Week of February 3: 2024 Practice Exam Week of February 10: 2023 Practice Exam Week of February 17: 2022 Practice Exam Week of February 24: 2021 Practice Exam Week of March 3: 2020 Practice Exam

As a high school student, I took the National Latin Exam (just two years because I started Latin as a junior). My Latin II Perfect Paper Certificate is displayed framed in my home office along with both of my NLE summa cum laude medals.
I taught Latin in brick and mortar school settings for many years before joining Outschool, and my students took the National Latin Exam nearly every year. One of my greatest joys was the end of year awards ceremony where I proudly bestowed on my students their NLE medals and certificates, and there were MANY high-scoring papers! I used this same study method with them, and now would love to share that with your learners as well.
