Description
Class Experience
Learners will expand their knowledge of the world by learning about a popular Spanish Dish, Paella. Learners will learn what makes a paella, what kinds and varieties exist, and how to make one.
Paella is one of the staples of Spanish cuisine and one of the most well known outside of Spain. I am an avid lover of food. Paella is a particular favorite which I make at least a few times a year. This class combines my love of food, paella, and culture and I want to share my knowledge and endless curiosity around this subject with learners. I hope to inspire in learners the same curiosity about the world and the variety of interesting and unique foods that can be found.
Optional Homework Assignments: Learners will write a short 3-5 paragraph reflection and opinion piece on the class and on Paella. This assignment can include: What they liked about class, most interesting things they learned, whether they have had paella before, would they like to try Paella, and more
Notebook or note taking handout if learners want to take notes. Learners should have pens/pencils to take notes.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learners will be informally assessed on participation in class. A formal assessment in the form of a letter grade or written report will be made available By Request.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
***This is Not a cooking class*** Single Learner Classes: - Single learner classes will go ahead as scheduled unless learner and family request otherwise. - Lesson may end early. If the lesson ends early there will be an extended discussion and Q & A. Learners may be released from class up to 5 minutes early if Q & A ends early.
Teacher will provide recipes for students. Teacher will provide handout for note taking.
