In this ongoing course, we will deep dive into the captivating world of space and astronomy each week! Students will be immersed in the world of astronomy & space exploration. If your child is passionate about staying informed on current space news, this class will undoubtedly pique their interest. Every week, I will prepare a slideshow featuring the latest space-related subjects, which we will discuss during our sessions. Additionally, students will have the opportunity at the start of each class to share any space-related news. I will utilize slides featuring images and brief video clips throughout the class. While I actively encourage class participation, it is not mandatory. This class caters to a wide range of students, from beginners to those with more advanced knowledge of the subject. All space enthusiasts are welcome! The class will begin with a big list of exciting things that have happened, are happening, or are about to happen in Space Technology. The discussions will be a combination of current events as they are happening, along with space technology and any new news regarding space. There is not a pre-determined schedule, as there are new advances in space technology and new rocket launches all the time. Learners will explore their curiosity about space and participate in discussion about NASA's Space Image of the Day and NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day. This class is based on the images that NASA posts for that day. This means the topic for each meeting will change, but the format is the same. The images are different for each day; however, they are all NASA/space-themed. Class Outline: 1. Warm-Up - "What's This ?" Share NASA’s Image of the Day on screen. Discussions 2. Learn About the Image A brief explanation of the image: Reading, discussing and more Question time: What was your favorite part about today’s image? If you could ask NASA one question about this image, what would it be? Example NASA Image: The Crab Nebula Warm-Up : "What do you think these colorful clouds are made of?" Explanation: The Crab Nebula is a remnant of a supernova observed nearly 1,000 years ago. It’s a mix of gas and dust ejected by the exploding star. Fun Fact: "If we could hear the pulsar at the center, it would sound like a cosmic heartbeat!" Example topics: 2024 November 20: Earthset from Orion 2024 November 19: Undulatus Clouds over Las Campanas Observatory 2024 November 18: Stars and Dust in the Pacman Nebula 2024 November 17: LDN 1471: A Windblown Star Cavity 2024 November 16: Pluto at Night 2024 November 15: Apollo 12 and Surveyor 3 2024 November 14: IC 348 and Barnard 3 2024 November 13: Barred Spiral Galaxy NGC 1365 from Webb 2024 November 12: NGC 6888: The Crescent Nebula 2024 November 11: The Unusual Tails of Comet Tsuchinshan Atlas 2024 November 10: Valles Marineris: The Grand Canyon of Mars 2024 November 09: Neptune at Night 2024 November 08: Helping Hand in Cassiopeia 2024 November 07: Shell Galaxies in Pisces 2024 November 06: Comet Tsuchinshan Atlas over the Dolomites 2024 November 05: Milky Way over Easter Island 2024 November 04: M42: The Great Nebula in Orion 2024 November 03: Jupiter Abyss 2024 November 02: Saturn at Night 2024 November 01: Spiral Galaxy NGC 6744
