In this three-week course, students will learn how to write a narrative on a topic of choice by examining examples and developing a compelling story.

Class experience

US Grade 11 - 12
Students will be able to:
     - Write personal narratives a single event, instance, or experience
     - Show how this experience had a significant impact on one's life.
     - Introduce and Explain Elements of Personal Narratives
     - Choose a Moment
     - Write the Hook and Examine Examples
     - Transition and Connection Moments
     - Write Descriptively and Use Dialogue
     - Order the Sequence of Events
     - Write an Ending and Examine Examples
     - Complete Revisions and Editing
     - Present the Narrative
I have taught professionally for five years in public schools but have worked for more than ten years in tutoring, mentoring, and educating students. Every year of my professional teaching, we have done this unit as a way to prepare for the school year, introduce ourselves, and as college preparation. I also teach vignettes which is a type of personal narrative on Outschool!
Homework Offered
Students might need to complete work outside of class as we work on individual skills. During this time, feedback from the teacher will be available!

Students will complete a personal narrative. This will meet all requirements of a narrative and the elements of one.
