Introduction Class Rate! Want your child to feel more confident with their writing? In this class, students will experience the writing process. We will brainstorm, outline/plan, write a rough draft, edit, and complete a final draft. In each class, the students and I will do a step of the process together. This modeling helps students understand what they have to do when they are writing independently. Between each class, students are expected to complete work that is given to them. It is published below in the schedule. I ask that they turn it in by messaging it to me. At any point during the process, students can message me for assistance. I also will check students' work during each step of the process. I ask that work is submitted to me at least three hours before class. If your child is going to have trouble completing the work in this timeframe, reach out to me. I am flexible. The whole class is designed to meet fifth and sixth-grade standards. Standards are the concepts that states decide students should master at each grade level. Fifth and sixth grade have very similar writing standards, so they are grouped together. Schedule Class 1: We will look at a narrative example and brainstorm. Between Classes- Students will brainstorm their own ideas for a narrative. They should submit their brainstorm to me. I will offer advice to them on their topics. Class 2: We will fill out a template for our class narrative. Between classes- Students will fill out a template for their own narrative. This is the most important part of the writing process. I ask that students submit it to me as soon as they can. It should be submitted at least 3 hours before class. I will offer feedback. I will sometimes ask students to resubmit before they do their rough draft. Class 3: We will write a rough draft together. Between classes- Students will write a rough draft and send it to me. I will give the students some tips for their writing. *******The writing must be sent to the teacher at least 3 hours before the class. If writing is not submitted 3 hours before, I cannot guarantee it will be ready before class.******* Class 4: I will look over the drafts, then teach a lesson to the class based on the needs of the students. After, students should send their writing to the teacher. They have two days after the class ends to send it. I will look over it one final time. It will be returned to students within two days. *** The price for this class is higher because I give feedback twice to students. ***If you would like to schedule one on one tutoring session to review the paper, I will do that for a discounted price of $10 per session. Message me and I will give you a discount code. Otherwise, feedback will be given in writing.
