Narrative Writing for Teens: Brainstorming Your Best Topics
What's included
1 live meeting

Narrative Writing can be quite a challenge! It starts right at the beginning-- "What am I supposed to write about?!" Many learners think they have to come up with some big exciting story idea. In this session, my students will learn that they already have a collection of great ideas living in their noggins! The strategies they'll practice include tapping into memories they have of the first time they did something, a time when they learned a lesson, and of people and places important to them. Students will have lots of opportunities to contribute their ideas in the meeting and they will share their brainstorming lists at the end.

Teacher expertise and credentials
What do you get when you blend Reading, Writing, and Social Studies with a dash of pop culture and a sprinkle of the arts? Well, I think that's the perfect recipe for getting kids excited about reading. My name is Mrs. Patten and I love teaching-- it's my favorite thing!
So far in my career, I've been a kindergarten assistant and I've taught third, fifth, and sixth-grade. I hold myself to high standards when it comes to creating lessons for my students and I am confident that my students are going to learn best when we're having fun and feeling valued.
When I'm not teaching, I like to knit, paint with watercolors, make collages, play disc golf, or go hiking with my husband, Jake. We have great trails to explore in Arizona! But... seriously, there aren't many moments when I'm not working on something to do with teaching!
