Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Narnia is a magical world with talking animals, fantastical creatures, and deep magic, where children from our world go and have amazing adventures and return different than they were before. Each week in this ONGOING book club we will talk about a different part of this amazing world created by CS Lewis. Each week there will be a suggested chapter to read related to the topic, but this reading while helpful for the discussion is optional, especially for those learners who are already familiar with the series.

Over the course of the class we will cover: “The Magician’s Nephew”, “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”, “The Horse and His Boy”, “Prince Caspian”, “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, “The Silver Chair” and “The Last Battle” all by CS Lewis.

Topic Discussion
December 18: Corin (Suggested reading The Horse and His Boy Chapter 5: Prince Corin)

Beginning in January 2024, this class is by parent request only. Only if 2 or more learners are guaranteed.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a former Home School student who has never stopped learning! I love history and telling stories verbally and through writing, and I want to share that passion with others. I believe the statement is true: “Those who don’t learn from History are doomed to repeat it.” We need to learn from the past to shape our own futures and the world in general. I believe the best way to learn about history is to learn about the people who lived through it and what they experienced and tell their stories. I love telling stories through writing and enjoy public speaking, so storytelling is a natural combination of the two.

I have 4 years of teaching experience in a variety of places from teaching/coaching drama and dance for homeschoolers in a group setting, to homeschooling two young children for a few months, to teaching English as Second Language (ESL) to college students, to teaching Arts and Crafts at a Summer Camp. I am currently a ESL teacher online with VIPKid. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Communication from Stevenson University.

I love to travel both in the US and internationally. I’ve spent time in almost every state on the East Coast and driven through the rest. I’ve visited seven different countries and lived in Asia for 17 months.
