Class Experience

My number one goal for this class is to develop a love for reading. As we discuss this book as a class, and relate to the characters and their experiences, students will grow in their interest and love for reading. Secondary goals include the students becoming more comfortable as they share their thoughts about the book in a safe, positive environment, learning the different elements of a story, and reading comprehension skills.
Students will read five short and exciting chapters after each class session (about 40-50 pages). We will do all worksheets and activities in class.

Nancy Drew Book One: The Secret of the Old Clock (This is available for sale online, at many bookstores, on e-readers and at most libraries.) I have created several handouts and activities to go along with this class that will be sent in a pdf. If you are unable to print this, students may also complete their activities in a blank spiral notebook. Pens and Markers to complete activities.
There is no formal assessment, but all students will be awarded a certificate at the end of the course.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
