This class is designed to show you where your learners strengths are and how to move forward. Remaining in the class your learner will develop other techniques in reading; including story writing, grammar, dictation and comprehension.

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Intermediate - Advanced Level
This session is for 1 hour and I will send you an extensive report the following week. The result of this class, is not only to determine your learner's reading and writing age but also, the category of reader; as there are 6 main categories in reading; which I will discus shortly. If your learner decides to remain in the class, the following weeks incudes puppets, games, storywriting and much more. Once a week, we will work on reading strategies using puppets, show & tell and memory games...
Learning goals are to illustrate what areas need improvement and by the end of the course the student should know: - How to interact and work closely with another learner - How to write full sentences - How to paraphrase - How to read between the lines This class will also illustrate what areas need improvement. By the end of the course (5-11yr olds) the student should know; In regards to reading: names of letters and their sounds, consonant blends, vowel blends, understand syllables, phonetic knowledge, cluster digraphs, compound words, linguistic tools, comprehension and how to use a dictionary & thesaurus. In regards to writing: letter forming, spelling, character description, stories/compositions, improvement in story telling. For the 12-16yr olds note taking, essay writing, dictation, CV's & cover/formal letter writing, speed writing, script writing, debating & public speaking skills, poetry and writing for academic puropses. The overall goal is to present a clear path, to unleashing the hidden Author.
I have been a reading specialist for more than 20 years and I have been making up stories and games since I was a teenager; so being able to design stories and games for Zoom for learners on Outschool to help with their reading, writing and handwriting and play in their own time with their families and friends is an honour!

Materials required for each session: Homework or project working on 3- 4 sheets of A4 plain paper or exercise/note book (to track progress) Graphic Tablet (Available on Amazon) pen, pencil, rubber, colouring pencils, puppets are always welcome!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I do encourage parents to sit off screen; as I give lots of tips to continue throughout the week.
Any stories/books read in class will have been written by Nana-Bee or the learners in the class.
