Each week students will learn about a different artist. They'll then have the opportunity to attempt to copy their technique in a Nailed It! Art Challenge. Students will be shown two art pieces by the artist of the day and they'll get to choose which project they want to work on in a 20 minute art challenge. This will primarily be an art sketching type course, but students are welcome to explore any form of art that they choose to complete their Nailed It! masterpiece. Not only will students learn a bit of art history and create their own art piece, at the conclusion of the event they'll also be encouraged to share their project with their peers. Teacher expertise and credentials
Maryland Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I grew up in Wisconsin where I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at UW Stout. I've taught for the public school system for 14 years in a variety of positions including classroom teacher, interventionist, ELL teacher and elementary science lab teacher. I hold a Masters Degree in Reading and School Administration from Johns Hopkins. After leaving the public school system I've spent the last several years teaching middle school Science and History at a homeschool tutorial while being a homeschool mom. I enjoy teaching hands on engaging courses that spark the interest of students with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to become life long learners. I welcome student interaction and questions.
In my personal life I LOVE to read, travel and explore new areas, especially the beach! I am a Girl Scout leader and adore every single girl in my troop. As a troop leader I am certified in several outdoors areas- archery, canoe, kayak, camping, etc. I can't wait to share some of my love of the outdoors with families here on Outschool.
