Class experience
In this one-time, 50 minute class, learners will be exposed to the Greek gods and goddesses. This class is an introduction to the main mythological Greek gods and goddesses. We will learn their names, where they fit into a family structure, and what makes each god or goddess unique. Learners will be exposed to Zeus, Hera, Heracles/Hercules, Poseidon, Hades, Persephone, Demeter, Hestia, Artemis, Apollo, Athena, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Ares, Hermes, and Dionysus. Students will learn who the Greek gods and goddesses are and what makes each of them special.
I am a trained educator and hold a teaching certificate for grades K-8. I love teaching stories, history, and mythology to learners who want to know more.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be exposed to the world of the Ancient Greeks. Sometimes there will be talk of warfare, weaponry, extramarital affairs, and the bodily injuries that are reported in the myths like beheadings and castrations. There will be pictures of weapons in the slides as well as some art depicting war, but those are the only sensitive materials that will be depicted in a visual format. All of the art depicting bodies will be tastefully cropped so that nothing too revealing of a sexual nature is exposed.
The Greek Myths Complete Edition by Robert Graves is a main source of information along with several websites including greekmythology.com and my own background knowledge and study.
