Class Experience

Welcome! In this installment of Mythology story time, we will be discussing stories centered around a Hero theme. These stories will be discussed from a secular point of view, with no favoritism being shown to any specific story. 

Week 1. What is the Mono-Myth Theory & King Arthur (Europe)
Week 2. Departure & Cuchulainn (Ireland)
Week 3. Initiation & Hainuwele (Indonesia)
Week 4. Return & Siddhartha Gautama (Buddhism)  

Students will experience storytelling around these myths and will be able to ask questions and discuss their components with classmates. 
Discussion points may include topics such as morality, heroism, and creating connections between all of these stories. 
Discussions will be teacher led in terms of question topics, but students are urged to participate as much as possible in these discussions.

Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the Hero’s Journey by applying examples from the provided mythological text.

Parental Guidance
We will be discussing a plethora of world religions and histories. Through this class, we will be analyzing each story from a secular point of view to break down the literary content.
