Lesson 1:
Analyzing the Structure of a Mystery Story
 Students will learn about the structure of mystery writing; and outline their story (Introduction, Body, Conclusion + Plot).

Day #2: Character Development
(Detectives or Investigators/Suspects + Motives)

Day #3: Clues + Red Herrings 

Day #4: Mystery Elements Review + Sharing Stories (optional)

Character Development
 Students will create a character analysis of their main character(s). This will include the detectives or investigators as well as the suspects and their possible motives.

Clues + Red Herrings
 Students will learn how to use clues and red herrings to keep readers guessing as their story develops.

Lesson 4:
Mystery Elements Review + Sharing Stories
 Students will do a comprehensive review of mystery elements and volunteers will share parts of their story with the class. Writers have a week after the camp ends to submit a final copy for teacher feedback. Volunteers may also post publicly for classmates to read and comment.
