Like mysteries? Like solving mysteries? How would you like to take part in one of them? Join Inspector Hercule Poirot and his side kick, Hastings, as they examine each clue at the scene of the crime - the estate of M. Deroulard, a French Deputy. In this original adaptation of Agatha Christie's, The Chocolate Box, students will take on characters and walk in their shoes to see if Inspector Poirot can actually solve this crime. During our first class we will read through the script and assign roles. On day two, we will discuss the plot and characters and how each fits into the story. Day three will be spent "blocking" the script. Days four, five, and six will be spent rehearsing and refining our characters and dialogue. During the latter half of day six, the students will perform for family members. I hope you join us for a mysterious good time!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about one of the greatest mystery writers of all time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I teach/direct students age 6-college and have been doing that in various positions for over 20 years. The classes I've taught have covered characterization, staging, improvisation, script-writing, etc.
I am the former Education Director at Germantown Community Theatre, and have also taught/directed high school, junior college, and summer theatre programs.
I absolutely love watching students grow as they participate in theatre. There is really nothing else that challenges them on so many levels including creativity, critical thinking, self-confidence, teamwork, communication skills, time management, focus, as well as learning about literature, author's intent, and the list goes on...
Decades ago, when I finished my student teaching experience I vowed I would never have anything to do with teaching children again... Haha! Never say never :)
