Mystery Reading and Writing Course (Grades 3-5)
In this mystery course, students will read Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery and write a creative mystery short story.

Description
Class Experience
Students will be able to: 1. Determine how writers alter meaning through literary devices and figurative language 2. Recognize plot elements in short stories and analyze characters 3. Identify main ideas and specific details in reading 4. Determine the difference between theme and main ideas 5. Write effective paragraphs 6. Construct written responses that demonstrate grade-level skills of analysis
I am a reading/English teacher with certifications in gifted education and special education. I am also pursuing my MAE and am an avid reader and writer.
Required reading (roughly 30 minutes) and optional vocabulary and comprehension work.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This book is appropriate for grades 3-4. Learners will not use any digital resources besides Quizlet outside of the Outschool Platform. Learners will not need to create any accounts to access digital resources.
