Let's practice addition math facts 0 - 20! Through a Mystery Picture PowerPoint game, learners will practice math facts. First, students will take turns choosing a square in a grid by giving the appropriate letter and number to identify the square they desire. Behind the square is a math problem. The student will answer the math problem in the box. Once the student has answered correctly, the tile they chose will to lifted showing a portion of the mystery picture. Learners will continue until all squares have been chosen and the mystery picture is completely uncovered. With any time left over after the game, learners will see how many math flashcards they can solve. Help will be given to students as needed. This is a no pressure class. It's a great time for review/practice.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Miss Kay. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Special Education. I have taught students with learning disabilities, mild developmental disabilities and emotional disabilities. For twelve years, I home schooled my own two children which included lots of hand-on activities, co-ops and fieldtrips.
Currently, I am in my eighth year of teaching adults with developmental disabilities. I have taught over twenty different types of classes including Math, Literature, Geography, Drama, Critical Thinking and Scrapbooking. Every summer we have fun with themes such as T.V. Games Shows, Escape Rooms, Disney and Super Heroes. We moved all our in-person classes to be virtual classes due to the pandemic. I have been teaching virtually since June of 2020.
I believe every child is just as important as the next. They should be given the time needed to process the information taught and questions asked. Children need to be an active part in their learning, what they have to say is important. Each student in my class has their own strengths and I want them to shine!
My topics can cover a broad span, but I believe interaction through games and discussion is my teaching style. PowerPoints and whiteboards are important visual tools to utilize. I believe in the quote that Outschool uses, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
I love to travel. I have been to eight countries and lived in Guatemala for seven years. I have taught and worked with children of all ages ever since I was a child. Teaching is my passion. My family has raised chickens and geese, grown our own food and volunteered in numerous places. Our one year old Australian Cattle dog keeps us very busy!
I am looking forward to seeing you in class and getting to know you!
