Class Experience

CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words introduce students to the magic of transforming simple sounds into words and is an important part of any pre-reading program. When your little learner has mastered letter names and the majority of sounds they are ready to learn how to segment and blend CVC words. Examples: pig, dig, map, cat

In this ongoing class, students will learn how to blend, segment, and decode short 3-letter words. Students will learn through hands on activities, fun handouts, short video clips, visual presentations, and gross motor movement!

We will begin each class with a Phonics Chant where students say each letter in the alphabets sound and match it with a corresponding movement! (Example: "A says ah" / Students will pretend to take a bite of an APPLE) There will be a short vowel introduction and a "mini" lesson on vowels. We will then move into our hands on activity where we work together to unlock the CVC words of the day. Students will listen to each beginning sound they hear and work to identify the corresponding letter with the goal of reading, identifying and finally spelling the CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) word. We will wrap up class with a review using movement and music!

 Short "a" words (-at, -an)
 Short "e" words (-ed, -et)
 Short "i" words (-ip, -it)
 Short "o" words (-ob, -op)
 Short "u" words (-ug, -un)

Students may pop in or leave at anytime! This class is highly engaging, educational, and fun. I look forward to seeing your little learner in my classroom!

Parental Guidance
Parents can assist with gathering materials before class if needed. Also, since this class is intended for young learners, it is recommended that the parent sits nearby and/or teach your child to push the UNMUTE/MUTE button. This will cut down on any unwanted background noise and allow the class to run as smooth as possible!
