Class Experience

Join me for a fun twist on Show and Tell! This will be an ongoing friendship and social club where we will get to know each other, become friends, practice our manners and speaking skills, and have a fun show and tell time!

During each class we will:
1. Play a get to know you game so we can learn a little bit about each person.
2. We will share our Mystery Bags and everyone will guess what is inside!
3. Go on a scavenger hunt in our house to find something and put it in our mystery bag. Then we will each give clues so our friends can guess what we found!

About the Mystery Bag - Each participant will bring a bag with an item inside it and have 3 clues to describe the item. Each child will share their 3 clues and we will take turns guessing what is inside their bag! In this class, participants will learn conversation and public speaking skills, taking turns, and practice their listening skills. I encourage each child to write and read their own clues if they are able or they can just tell us their clues. Either way is great!

1.	Your child may find 1 special thing to share with our class and put it inside a paper or plastic bag so we can guess what is inside.
2.	They should think of 3 clues to give to our class. You can either write your child’s clues, have your child write the clues on a piece of paper, or they can say their clues for us.

For example: If you put an apple in the Mystery bag, three possible clues might be:

1. It is a fruit.	2. It is round.	3. It tastes sweet.

Then we will have fun taking turns and guessing what is inside everyone's bag!!!

After everyone has shared, we will go and find something else to put in the bag. Then, we will have fun giving clues and guessing again! Everyone will have a few turns to share items with us!

Week of September 3 - What is your favorite stuffed animal?
Week of September 6 - What is your favorite thing to do outside?
Week of September 13 - What is your favorite food?
Week of September 20 - What is your favorite toy?
Week of September 27 - What is your favorite animal?
Please join me in this super fun show and tell class where we will all become friends!

Hi! I love to teach preschool and early elementary classes and strive for ways to make learning fun and exciting! It is my goal to celebrate all learners and help them to love learning. Teaching phonics, reading, writing and math skills are my absolute favorite!

I graduated from Hiram College in Ohio with a BA in Elementary Education and a Reading Endorsement which means that I did extra course work so I could become a reading specialist if I chose. After college, I taught kindergarten, 1st and 3rd grade for a total of 8 years. During that time, I was honored to be selected as Teacher of the Year for my elementary school and finalist for county wide Teacher of the Year in Nashville, TN. In addition to teaching, I was also a curriculum developer and workshop presenter for 5 years. I created reading, writing, and math curriculum for the county, and then trained elementary teachers K-5 how to teach that curriculum in their classrooms. I also worked for a publishing company developing reading and math units. I stayed home with my children when they were young and then taught a transition to kindergarten class for 6 years.

I love teaching children and believe that learning should be fun and engaging! Children learn best when they are laughing, smiling, singing, drawing, doing hands-on activities, moving, and having fun! For me, there is no greater joy than helping a child grow and learn! I love to play games, sing and make learning fun!

One fun fact about me is that I love animals and have many stuffed animals. My stuffed animals love to join me in my classes. If your learner has a special stuffed animal we would love to have it join us too!
