Perfect for homeschoolers, this engaging class fosters creativity and skill-building through personalized drawing techniques in a supportive environment. 𐃘 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤? Me, Teacher Sanya never leave home without my sketchbook. It’s my constant companion, where I capture ideas, practice techniques, and let my creativity flow. Now, I’m thrilled to share my passion with you! Whether you’re sketching realistic portraits, creating expressive anime characters, or crafting bold comic book scenes, me, Teacher Jelly, and Teacher Megan are here to guide you. Jelly and Megan also have a deep love for sketching—Megan’s sketchbook is brimming with stunning portraits, landscapes and intricate theatre designs, while Jelly’s pages burst with vibrant characters, fashion designs and dynamic scenes. Together, they’ll offer personalized feedback and endless inspiration to help you unleash your creativity. Did you know that the greatest master artists all had sketchbooks brimming with drawings, ideas, and practices? No one is born knowing how to draw everything. Leonardo Da Vinci drew thousands of portraits and hands in his sketchbook to master them. Frida Kahlo was writing about her emotions and feelings while doodling in her sketchbook. It's all about the journey and the practice. Let's embark on this creative adventure together! What I love about sketchbooks is how personal they are—they’re not just tools for art, but visual diaries that make your work uniquely yours. Let's enjoy making marks and capturing our artistic journeys in these special books. One of my favorite things is flipping through old sketchbooks, reliving the moments I captured in each drawing, and seeing how my skills have evolved. It’s a beautiful, creative way to remember old ideas, reflect on past perspectives, and appreciate the journey of improvement. 𐃘𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮? 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞! No matter your experience level, this class will help you unleash your artistic potential and fill your sketchbook with drawings that reflect your creativity. Every week, you’ll explore a new challenge, discover new techniques, and have fun along the way! Whether you're a beginner or an advanced artist, everyone is welcome! We (Sanya, Megan and Jelly) tailor our teachings to suit your skill level and individual needs. If you’ve never drawn before, our step-by-step system will help you gain confidence. If you’re already familiar with drawing but want to improve your skills in capturing likenesses or anime styles, this course will enhance your techniques and boost your confidence. ⭐️👩🎨Founder and Art Prof Sanya -Sanja Manakoski:
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Costume and Fashion Design from University of Applied Arts and Design in Belgrade, and my Master of Fine Arts in Stage Design from Northwestern University in Chicago.
I've taught various art and design related classes for 10 years and I have worked with all different age learners. Aside from teaching young developing artists I am also teaching regularly at college level, such as Northwestern University. Watching students learn to discover and create with the help of my guidance inspires me a lot. I am an active professional multidisciplinary artist, and I have been costume designing internationally and in the US for the last 10 years. I also have experience in other design areas, such as film, fashion, makeup and illustration. As a result, I am able to share my first-hand experience, skills and knowledge that help students consider various creative opportunities and moreover the joy of creating art.
For me learning never ends- as much as students learn from me, I am also the one who learns from them all the time. Being an artist and teacher is not just a profession for me, it is a way of life.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Picasso once said, “All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Teaching enables me to remain an artist, rediscovering new ways to be passionate about theater and art. My teaching philosophy is that all students must have a stimulating creative environment that will foster their artistic, creative, social, and intellectual growth. I approach each student individually by celebrating their specific point of view.
My goal is to create a class that is never one-note or repetitive, but rather collaborative, interactive and dynamic. I want every student to have a meaningful experience in my class.
In a safe, process-based environment I invite my students to learn through experimentation, share their ideas and discover the joy of creating art. I want to help students feel comfortable unlocking their creative voices and developing their talents.
Thank you for reading and I hope to see you in some of my classes!
