W E L C O M E B A C K! My friends! I am so glad you're back for the second half of "My First 4 Piano Lessons." My name is Ms. Diana and I am honored to be your learner's guide through their continued piano adventure! Music, I believe, should be enjoyed and NOT endured! My goal is to set up an environment that allows your learner to begin piano in a safe and enjoyable setting where they feel like: "I can do this!" You might be thinking... "I don't want to commit to 8 weeks, they want to quit everything!" "How do I know they'll want to continue and we're stuck for 8 weeks!" "Will they like it?" Just for you, I've created this FLEX version of the first four classes of the popular "Primer Part 1 Piano Aventure Course." This is if you'd just like to "try it out" before fully committing to the 8-week program. I get it! Each week, over 150 students come to see me in this beautiful virtual world! Every class, I help them understand concepts and have fun! Kids truly love learning, and I make the entire experience easy and pleasant for parents. My Goal: My goal has always been to help students have fun and see music as a game. My experience over the past sixteen years, both in the classroom and studio, has shown me that the best way to motivate someone is to make the learning process feel easy. This has been the key to unlocking the potential that my students didn’t even know they had! The vast majority of my students move through their books at a faster rate than the “average” time that the publisher suggests it should take – and I believe it is directly connected to the exploratory and creative environment I create in my lessons. It’s very exciting and motivating for new students to see how quickly they can learn music! How the program works: 1. Join a class that works best for your schedule. 2. Print your music (music will be provided in the classroom) 3. Prepare a quiet and distraction-free space for your learner IMPORTANT: I do ask that parents prepare to sit with our young learners (8 and under) for the first 2-3 lessons to ensure your child has the best possible start to their classes - as well as avoid any issues with technology in using Zoom or their keyboards + pianos. Practice videos will be available in the classroom each week for students' review of the material as well as full class recordings for missed classes. For our final meeting, we have a PERFORMANCE opportunity for learners to share their favorite songs. We will cover the basics: - Notes on the piano - Rhythm - Music Vocabulary - Reading basic music Class 1: The White Keys CDE Class 2: The White Keys FGAB C Position Introduced Class 3: Ode to Joy! Split C Position Class 4: The Dotted Half Note BONUS: Alouette! Class Performance of their favorite pieces 🎵 Presentation of official Primer Part 1 Certificates 🎉 DETAILS: The course is structured around the concept that children learn music through immersion! Your child will be given the opportunity to hear me play to model how their pieces go. We will then discuss the songs as they use "visual analysis" in understanding what is happening in the music. This allows the student to build their listening skills (ear training), sight reading (reading music), and creativity (applying musical knowledge to their piece!) BONUSES: KAHOOT! : Students will be given free access to our special KAHOOT! designed especially for each class concept. This will help to solidify concepts and check for understanding each week. PRACTICE VIDEOS: Following each class, there will be a practice video available for the learner to review the songs done in class. This is to support the learner in their journey for extra guidance throughout the week. PLEASE NOTE: This course does DOES NOT MEET LIVE. However, I will require students to send recordings of their playing each week in order to guide them through their studies. I will critique their playing with weekly feedback. WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR? This is for the beginner student with no previous piano experience, or any looking for a review! Material used in this course is composed, arranged, and written by Nancy and Randall Faber.
