Intermediate Level
Explore the United States of America like never before - through Minecraft! In this interactive and educational class, students will embark on a virtual journey to discover the geography, capitals, and landmarks of each state in the USA, all while building and creating in Minecraft. Over the course of three weeks, we will cover ALL fifty states. Students will have access to a variety of engaging activities and resources, including short video lessons about each state, coloring pages to decorate, and build maps to help them recreate each state in their Minecraft game. But that's not all! Students will also learn about a major landmark in each state and will have the opportunity to build a landmark or defining characteristic of each state in Minecraft. They will even learn how to program a command block that will teleport them outside their USA map to see their creations come to life! To further enhance their learning, students will participate in a weekly word search featuring the names of the covered states and their capital cities. Students can share their work in the classroom to receive personalized feedback and encouragement from me! At the beginning of each week you will receive: -short video lessons highlighting the covered states (capital city, major landmark, fun facts) -build maps to help you recreate the states inside Minecraft -coloring pages of the state quarters -word searches pertaining to the states covered that week Inside Minecraft students will learn how to: -recreate the shape of each state -construct a sign with the state name and capital city -record a fun fact in the book and quill -build a state landmark -program a command block to teleport the player to state landmarks In the final week of our class, we will play an interactive and exciting game of USA Bingo to practice all that we have learned about the USA. I will also introduce students to some fun review games on abcya.com and hands on resources that I love to use when teaching the states in my own homeschooling. Throughout the class, students are encouraged, but not required to share their work in the classroom. I am an enthusiastic and responsive teacher who responds with personal feedback. Please let me know if your student needs any accommodation to participate in this class. Students can use any version of the Minecraft game to participate in this class. Students will NOT be playing in the same server or realm together. They will not need to share gamertags. Each student will work individually on their own device. Minecraft players who are familiar with the controls and understand how to build (from medium skill level to more advanced) will have the skills needed to complete the projects. Join me on this exciting Minecraft adventure as we explore the USA, build, learn, and have fun! Enroll now to secure your spot and embark on a unique learning experience through Minecraft! Age range totally flexible! I have even had adults go through this program outside of Outschool, and they thoroughly enjoyed/learned from it! Disclaimer: This class is not an official Minecraft product and I am not affiliated or associated with Mojang. The class image is from my own Minecraft game. After this class, you will know how to build it in your world as well!
