Did you know that Minecraft includes built in education tools? Let me show you how! In this class students will be introduced to vocabulary and concepts from chemistry all while playing their favorite game and learning to make some really cool things like balloons, sparklers and more.

My short and engaging videos contain instruction, tutorials and examples. This class is totally FLEXIBLE and you are welcome to share your work in the classroom or keep it to yourself.

Students will work on the projects I introduce to them, and we will share in the Outschool classroom. We will also play an interactive game of periodic table bingo. In addition to watching videos, completing projects and posting in the classroom, students will enjoy doing worksheets, word searches and coloring pages related to our lessons.

8 Lessons

over 4 Weeks

Lesson 1:

Introduction to Chemistry in Minecraft

 -how to set up Minecraft world to enable chemistry features
-where and how to find special equipment in the game that we will use in class plus create a chemistry lab
-States of matter (solid, liquid, gas)

Lesson 2:

Minecraft build project: balloons

 Craft latex balloons filled with helium in Minecraft for a birthday build plus make Oobleck in real life

Lesson 3:

Introduction to the periodic table plus build the periodic table in Minecraft

 Bonus: learn to craft armor trims and pottery

Lesson 4:

Let's play Periodic Table Bingo

 Review the elements with a fun game of bingo

Learning Needs

This class is intentionally designed for students with unique learning needs. As a neurodivergent educator, I offer a wide variety of multi sensory activities to support many different learning styles such as ADHD, autism and more!

Parental Guidance

We will be using the chemistry module already available in Minecraft, no need to download anything new (I will show you how to do everything in class). No need to share gamertags. All builds will be completed in your own Minecraft game. Will this class work with my Minecraft? YES: Minecraft Bedrock Edition including Windows 10, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, mobile iOS, Android and Minecraft Education NO: Java Edition, Xbox 360, Playstation 3
