These sessions are not designed just for children who are perfectionists; we believe everyone should be given the gift of realising they have a choice over how and what they think. Even if your child seems generally positive, the stories and concepts shared throughout the week equip them with the skills to fall back on whenever they find themselves up against a new challenge. Working within a group using the skills of collaborating and communicating is also a great way to boost general self-confidence and self-awareness. The sessions are also an opportunity for children to explore being outside of their comfort zone within a fun and supportive environment. What are the benefits of these sessions? - Enhanced future job prospects: World Economic Forum ‘Future of Jobs Report’ (http://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF_Future_of_Jobs_2020.pdf) consistently cites life skills as the most critical skills for the workplace. - Increased academic attainment: Numerous scientific papers identify the correlation between happiness and academic attainment - Improved mental health, particularly during a global pandemic
Meet Louise Treherne our Director of our Character Education Team: Louise develops new and exciting ways to help children explore our four key areas of collaboration, resilience, creativity and leadership, in order to be the best version of themselves. Louise has a degree in Psychology, 12 years experience as a teacher and 5 years as a Senior Deputy Head at a London Prep school. She now works as a Coach and Educational Consultant, which includes working in different educational settings, delivering training and staying up to date with all things Character Education related! Through her coaching, Louise works 1:1 with adults and children to help them move forward with specific goals, explore limiting beliefs and develop their direction and confidence. Louise has created our content which is taught by our Role Models. Our Role Models (teachers) are energetic, engaging, and curious educators who are passionate about encouraging your children to become the best version of themselves. All of our Role Models are hand-picked and trained by our education team. In order to become a Role Model, they must have ample experience working with groups of children. They must also be adept at combining educational rigour with fun, to create active learning environments that children love. We have a number of qualified teachers and actors on our team. However, each Role Model brings something unique to the table. You can find out more about our Role Models here: https://www.rolemodels.me/about-us/meet-our-role-models/.
Each My Mindset & Trying New Things Session includes access to additional, optional, exciting activities for your child to do independently at any point during their day/week. Each of these is designed to be a fun distraction from what is going on around them. These activity sheets will be emailed to you along with a summary of the content shared during the online session each day.
Please print the attachments in the welcome email. Please make sure your child has paper and a pen, pencil and a range of felt tips/crayons.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents will receive a post session email – this email summarises what your child covered so you can discuss this with them. It will also include a 'Top tip' from from Louise Treherne, our Director of Character Education.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
The content is appropriate for all children aged 5-7. These sessions are not designed just for children who are perfectionists; we believe everyone should be given the gift of realising they have a choice over how and what they think. Therefore they are not intended to be a therapy class.
