In My Math Notebook: +/- Within 20, learners will create their own math notebook and have fun with games and activities designed to help practice important math skills! We will meet two times a week and each session will include a calendar and number of the day warm up, followed by a mini-lesson and practice session. We will wrap up with a game or task that can be used to extend learning in between classes. The notebook is built gradually throughout the course, adding a little bit each...
Students will: - add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. - understand place value. - understand numbers to 100.
I am a credentialed teacher in both CA and OR and have been teaching math for over 20 years!
There will be optional games and activities for students to practice with in between classes.
-set of interlocking cubes such as unifix cubes (Amazon), or create your own using squares of different colored paper or magnets -two row rekenrek (Amazon), or see directions in the classroom on how to make one using pipe cleaners and beads. -set of number cards (PDF print out, or make from regular deck, instructions available in the classroom) - pair of dice or number cubes, 1-6 (PDF available or can make your own from craft cubes) - composition notebook - there may be some PDFs to print throughout this class. If you do not have access to a printer, please let me know so we can figure out an alternative.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
